I'll stand with arms high and heart abandoned...
We had a great couple of weeks with worship pastor Ray White. He led worship both weeks for the three sunday morning services, and had a great “Glow” night last Wednesday night. Thanks Ray for your help and hard work! Oh, in addition to leading worship Ray helped us re-carpet the stage and add a drum booth. Pastor Ray is from Calvary Chapel Sarasota http://www.calvarychapelsarasota.com

W hat crosses your mind when you hear about women in prison? The first question will probably be: “what crime did she commit?” For women who are imprisoned in Luzira women prison their crimes range from the failure to pay back a debt, kidnapping, to murder. You can wonder how they look alike, you can expect to see some criminal faces…but when you actually see them, it changes everything.

The Prison from a Distance (No cameras were allowed inside)
These women, showed a warm welcome to Calvary Chapel Kampala group that went to visit them on Monday, 11th May 2009. To everyone, they knelt to greet and show respect with a smile on their faces! The smile, this smile: how can they keep it while living in such difficult conditions, in which they are cut out off the outside world? The answer is in their faith in the Lord.
In the hall where we gathered that afternoon, women inmates raised their voices praised and worshiped God with Luganda songs, while playing the drums.

We will miss you!

- Ready to cut cake We will miss you!
This last Saturday was a time of celebration and tears at the Calvary Chapel Women’s Bible study. Sarah Nakyazze has been a part of Calvary Chapel Kampala for many years. She is a graduate of the Bible College and has been very active in ministry, especially women’s ministry. On May 2, Sarah will be getting married to George and they will be living in Kenya. We celebrated Sarah’s wedding with cake and gifts. Afterwards we reminisced of all the good times we have shared together which led to tears when we finally had to say good-bye. We are praying for Sarah to have much joy in her new home but she will remain always a part of our family here at CCK.

Some of Calvary Chapel Christians took the step further in their faith and got baptized last Saturday, 28th March, at Kisubi beach. By accepting to be plunged in the Victoria Lake, they testified and highlighted what Baptism is: “dying with Christ and resurrecting with Him”, a beginning of a new life in Jesus Christ.
IT ALL STARTED IN CHURCH
For those who do not know Pastor Kanyike, let me tell you one thing, when in church he announces: “Church, we will have baptism on 28th, at Kisubi beach, there will be barbecue, matooke, chapati, nice food…”, even if you are a good Christian who wants to enjoy the Sunday sermon, you get hungry and start dreaming…when he ends his statement with a “please come and enjoy”, the worship team sings…
Guess what? This time when I woke up, it was real. It is almost 3 pm, our matatu (bus in the local language) has just arrived at Kisubi beach, I take a moment to inhale/breathe in the fresh air from the lake. Kids are running around, shouting; adults look cool in their shorts, relaxed and lining up for the barbecue! After enjoying the nice food, Calvary Chapel worship team leads us in praise and worship songs, we prayed and Pastor Brian refreshed us with some explanations about

s men we can only make the plans but the fulfillment has to come from GOD. Through God’s Faithfulness and Grace, I bring you great news from our 1st missions outreach with Pastor Glen and Brother Rich from the USA.
Our ministry outreach in Nairobi run through three busy days. We got started on Friday morning with prayer and devotion a beautiful morning in the presence of the Holy Spirit and this moment in fellowship with each other unified us through the power of the Holy Spirit. With no time to waste there after we grubbed a cup of tea and headed to Kagemi one of Nairobi’s poorest neighborhood where we ministered to Children of God is Able Nursery and Primary.
God Is Able Nursery and Primary is one of the poorest schools in the whole of Nairobi city, but, these precious kids have the greatest smiles I have ever seen. With shoes or no shoes on their feet, with uniform or no uniforms these kids put aside their worries, needs and welcomed us with the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen on a child’s face. Visiting class to class sharing the Love of Christ with them we continued to their warm hearts filled with the Joy of the Lord.

our church will branch out like never before in 2009. God is growing our
family at an unimaginable rate, even weekly. Because we want to welcome
everyone, this year calvary chapel Kampala will become one church meeting
at multiple locations.
What will this look like? as we continue to meet at our current “Downtown
Site” for regular Sunday services, a fourth service will be added at a different
location. It will start at 10 am and have a separate ministry team, but
everything else will remain the same. no matter which location you choose
to call home, you will get the same sermon series, text, and unique Spirit-
filled worship. By God’s grace we plan to launch this new site in august!
Don’t worry, we are saving and looking to purchase our own property as God
provides. and as we shift into a multi-site strategy, we are taking a decisive
step in that direction. think about it. our capacity to reach Kampala’s lost
multiplies with each site God adds.
Be sure to join us for “our church.” In this new sermon series I will explain our
multi-site future, as well as our church from a Biblical perspective. come and
discover your part in God’s growing body at calvary!
